Authorities believe the fire that caused extensive damage to a Walmart in Peachtree, GA was intentionally set.
Local police officers who helped evacuate people from store were treated for smoke inhalation, CBS46 reported.
Videos showed panicked some shoppers running from the store after the fire was discovered about 7:20 pm. Wednesday.
Firefighters from Peachtree, Coweta County, Fayetteville and Fayetteville battled the flames throughout the night. It was deemed under control at 4 a.m. Part of the roof collapsed.
Although the store’s sprinkler system did function as designed, the store suffered extensive damage to the interior and the roof, fire officials told reporters.
A multi-agency investigation is continuing.
